What's the difference between batik cap, batik tulis, and batik print?

Batik cap is made with hand-pressed copper stamps — repeatable, but still hand-made. Batik tulis is drawn one motif at a time with a canting tool, much slower and unique per piece. Batik print isn't true batik: it skips the wax process and is screen-printed instead. Zayru is primarily batik cap, with batik tulis accents on selected details.

Wash the first time in cold water without detergent, or use lerak (Indonesian soapberry). Skip the machine and the dryer. After regular wear, simply air-dry in the shade. Iron from the inside on low heat. For premium batik tulis, store rolled rather than hung.
